News to Use from RQ May 17th
Posted by KJCB on May 17, 2018
Spring is definitely here, with showers, flowers, proms, graduations and formal dances. I recently saw an interview with some military ladies who founded an organization called Operation Deploy Your Dress. Their organization is a 100% donation based, volunteer run, military spouse founded nonprofit. They collect and distribute gently used and new formal attire to military and dependent ID cardholders in an attempt to offset the cost of attending military balls and other formal events. What better way for us to help other women whose families are serving our country than to donate to them?!? I know I have three formal dresses here each worn once by my youngest daughter who asked me to donate them somewhere as she has no more use for them. ODYD accepts dresses, evening purses, formal shoes, etc. We will take donations to ship to them for the next month or so. If you would like to help but don't have anything to donate, you can also make a small cash donation. We will use it to help offset the cost of shipping and send the remainder to them to use for cleaning garments or whatever else they may need. If you are far from RQ or if you just want more information go to www.operationdeployyourdress.com. If you would have to mail to us anyway, go ahead and send it directly to the base. Our donations are going to JBLM in Washington state. If you send it there, tell them we sent you! ~ Marcia
On to the news...
RQ In Store Gift Card Change
This is another friendly reminder that if you have any remaining RQ Gift Cards that look like the card above you need to stop in RQ BEFORE May 31st. We are changing our gift card processing system and will no longer be able to support the cards shown above. Come into RQ and shop to use up your gift card or we can shift your balance to the new system. RQ Turns 10: May MODA Madness Month
We love Moda and know that many of our customers do too! Moda was one of the very first manufacturers that we ordered fabric from 10 years ago when RQ opened. We met at Marcia's Mom's dining room table (as the store was still being remodeled at the time) and our Moda Sales Rep often still reminds us of that first meeting a decade ago.
During the month of May, all instock Moda yardage on the bolt is 10% off instore and online! This includes prints, solids, marbles, grunges, extra wides, batiks, flannels...as long as they're produced by Moda they are 10% off.
BUT WAIT...there's more...come in ANY DAY in May with your RQ 10th Anniversary Tote Bag and we'll give you 20% off your Moda yardage purchase!! (Must have RQ Tote Bag with you to receive additional sale price, available instore only. Sale price not valid on out-of-stock or preorder items that do not arrive before May 1st.)
Tuesday, May 22nd will be this month's RQ Anniversary Tote Bag Day. Come into RQ with your RQ Anniversary Tote Bag and receive 10% off your entire purchase (some exclusions apply) AND receive 20% off Moda yardage (must have been in stock prior to May 1st).
What's New at RQ
Our newest batiks by Timeless Treasures are from the luscious Orchid Tonga collection. Shades of pinks, purples, and greens combine to create this beautiful group. In addition to yardage and fat quarters, we have Treat Strip Jrs. and Shortcakes in Orchid. Be sure to visit the RQ website and see the Tropical Blooms Kit featuring pieces from Orchid Tonga!
Color Cuts have arrived! These long awaited little bundles of joy are the perfect grab and go gift for your favorite quilter (or yourself of course!). We have the Dessert Rolls (5" x WOF strips) and Cake Cuts (10" squares) in all six color combinations: Sprouts, Roadtrip, Lemon Drop, Daybreak, Sugar on Top, and Seaglass. These are great for scrappy projects or for someone who has trouble selecting prints that play well together in the same quilt. Fabric prints are from 8 different Moda collections and are not all from the same designer. Can't decide which color you like the best? Take a look at the Dessert Sampler Quilt that uses one each of the Dessert Rolls!
Whether we want to think about it or not, it's that time of year when the Christmas and winter holiday fabrics start arriving on a daily basis. So we'll start with Vintage Holiday by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics. This collection has small hints of the holidays in the prints such as ornaments, bows, and snowflakes. The aqua and pink add some fun to the traditional red and green of holiday fabrics. Plus a few prints have a silver metallic accent for a bit of sparkle. Vintage Holiday has exceptional pattern support and we've listed a few corresponding kits. We also have jelly rolls, layer cakes, and charm packs in stock! We're still waiting on two extra wide backings to coordinate, but they should be available soon.
Ready, Set, Sew Sweet Tweet
We have a few kits remaining for the Sweet Tweet Quilt featured at the May BOM meeting. This baby quilt uses your favorite 60 degree triangle ruler or the included template to piece the hexagons without y-seams! The fabric kit and pattern are packaged in a canvas tote bag from Quilting Treasures. If you live locally, we are offering a class to learn about working with bias edge piecing on Friday, June 15th. This class is complimentary with the purchase of the fabric kit (when you purchase the kit please note if you are interested in the class). Limited quantities are remaining don't delay!

Did You Know?
Moda Fabrics has two separate websites where they share FREE patterns that coordinate with their fabric collections. The Moda Cutting Table Blog features free patterns and loads of helpful information about Moda products. For example they have two patterns that use the brand new color cuts! The second and perhaps more well known website is the Moda Bake Shop where you can find patterns using the Moda precuts from a variety of designers. Have a jelly roll or charm pack that need a pattern? You can search for a specific precut to find all the available patterns. Enjoy!
