News to Use from RQ March 26th
Posted by KJCB on March 25, 2020
Here we are, kicking off week two of CoronaClosed at Rossville Quilts. Due to the Indiana Governor’s proclamation this week, we will unfortunately be extending our time being closed to our instore customers for three weeks instead of two. We are unable to deliver “curbside.” We are still mailing, as long as the post office is open. We are now scheduled to reopen to all on April 7th. If any other changes are made to that, we will address it here and on social media.
David, Kyla and I are still processing the orders that come in. Please be aware that some of our providers are also greatly slowed down. Trucking may be diverted for carrying hospital supplies; businesses may have employees who are quarantined, etc. We do know of two groups, “Cosmos” by In the Beginning and "The View from Here" by Northcott, that will be at least one more month before it will be shipped to us.
Patience is the name of the game for all of us right now. We miss you who normally come to see us, and we look forward to reopening. And for those of you who order online and add notes to the comment section telling us to “stay healthy” or “hang in there” … you keep us going. We appreciate you all and hope that you too stay healthy and hang in there!
This week's TBT collection is Skopelos by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics. Follow this link to the "Throwback Thursday" Sale page on the RQ website for all the details! On to the news...
Fabric Face Masks Info
One thing I have found out about quilters since I began years ago is that the vast majority of them are incredibly charitable. We have had MANY questions and comments about making masks for hospitals that are coming up short on the masks that protect the staff from viral infection. While we can’t make those masks, we can make some that will help by covering the high-quality masks and keeping them cleaner, hopefully making those last longer. So, while we obviously can’t sew up a mask that is entirely antiviral, we can maybe help by making a covering for them.
I’m sure some of you know more than I about different thread counts, but what I do know is that a premium quilt shop quality fabric is somewhere around 60 count cotton. We carry a 200 thread count Moda muslin that is denser and also comes in a width of 108”. If you type 9954 in the search box on our website you will find it. Anyone who has one yard or more of Moda Muslin 9954 in their online order, we will cover the cost of your domestic shipping (even additional items beyond just the Moda Muslin 9954!).
Please check with your local hospitals or clinics to see if any of these masks are needed before making or taking them. Here is a link to a free pattern. https://freesewing.org/docs/patterns/fu/instructions/ .

What's New at RQ
Just arrived at RQ is At Home by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics. This collection is aptly named as many of us are working from home or spending more time at home. This Mother and Daughter design team have created two separate colorways that can also work together in harmony. Bonnie's colors are reds and taupes while Camille's are blues and greens. Precuts are available separately in each of the colorways! We will be cutting kits using many of the coordinating patterns including the Dwell 2 Kit (featured above). Preorders should start shipping by the end of the week!
Botanica by Michel Design Works for Northcott Fabrics is now blooming at RQ. We've brought in four skus specifically for use in the Triangle Frenzy Bouquet pattern designed by Bunnie Cleland. This fun, kaleidoscope pattern is available on a black or white background (as seen above). Have your own favorite "stack-n-whack" pattern that uses a large overall print or border stripe? Take a look at the beautiful florals of Botanica!
Spring is here and it's time for a picnic in the backyard with your friends, The Frogs (seen above)! Sunday Picnic by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics features one of Stacy's signature stuffed toy panels. The 2-yard panel has The Frogs and all the accompaniments they need for a weekend picnic. In addition to this fun panel, we have three coordinates and Sunday Picnic charm packs!
All scheduled classes have been cancelled or postponed through April 7. We will contact students who have paid for upcoming classes once we are able to begin rescheduling. Thank you for your understanding!
