This week's TBT collection is the FloralGraphix III Batiks by Jason Yenter for In the Beginning. Our first batik collection in the Throwback Thursday collection is sure to be popular so don't delay in ordering. Featured Future BOM
The designers at Wing and a Prayer have been busy this winter! We're now taking sign-ups for their Canyon BOM which will begin in October 2020. This 108" square quilt is being offered as a 10-month BOM or full kit. Fourteen beautiful batiks are used to create this earth toned beauty. Sign-up now to reserve your space in this program!
March Block of the Month Meeting
Our next Block of the Month meeting is this Saturday, March 7th with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. and the meeting starting at 9:15 a.m. This month will be the final package for the Oh Susanna's Stars BOM (featured above) with remaining yardage available for purchase.
This month's BOM challenge is to bring an item you've made that could be used on your next Spring Break vacation (dream or realistic).
This month we will be starting the Moroccan Sunset EBOM by Hoopsisters. Participants can pick up their month 1 embroidery design files on Saturday after the BOM meeting (please bring a USB stick). We will not have a sit and sew this month as participants have the option of attending the EBOM Workshop on March 15th (see below for more details); however, we will have a brief introduction at about 10:00 a.m. for new participants. We are also available to help you choose fabric and thread this Saturday so you are ready to go for the 15th.
BOM Updates - Anytime a BOM is listed on our website and not marked otherwise, it is still available for sign up. If you want to participate one month at a time, but it started several months ago, that's fine. We will adjust for you. If you want all the back packets to catch up, that's fine too. We still have availability for full kits or monthly participation in: Amish With a Twist IV, Cherry Lemonade, Harmony, London Blues, My Redwork Garden, Night Watchman, and Teapot Sampler. Currently we have monthly only availability in Hill Country Heritage and Tara.
What's New at RQ
Who's ready for a beach getaway for Spring Break? Or maybe you're having a stay-cation and are just dreaming of an island retreat? Isla by Whistler Studios for Windham can help bring the tropical island feel to your home. Tropical floral blooms and palm fronds are mixed with miniature palm trees. Create your own tropical oasis at home!
If the beach isn't your style, how about an adventure in the Rainforest? The vibrant colors of this collection designed by Marcia Baldwin for Benartex are sure to wake up those stuck in the winter blues. The panel (above) and prints feature vibrant and lush colors that are often only found in nature. Parrots and butterflies come alive in the coordinates. The Tropical Paradise Kit uses the Rainforest skus as well as a Marabella basic and will be available later this month.
Continuing on our "take a trip" theme this week, we're revisiting the Magical Journey Batiks by Jacqueline de Jonge for Anthology that are available at RQ. Aqua, lime green, and purple batiks create a spring palette. Add the Lava Solids Black to really make those colors pop as seen in the Under My Spell quilt (featured above). OR choose a softer aqua background as seen in the Precious Gems quilt found on the RQ website for a whole different look.
RQ Machine Embroidery BOM Workshop
Have you ever been a member of any of our EBOM programs? Gotten overwhelmed in the middle? Couldn’t figure out how to put it together at the end? Had trouble choosing fabrics and thread and never even got started? (Trust me, we’ve been there too.)
LET RQ HELP!! In an effort to assist you in restarting these gorgeous projects we are hosting an EBOM workshop. On Sunday, March 15th, come with your machine, your supplies and your excited self and we will give you the impetus to get going again on your project. We will have the Pavilion Shelter House at Rossville Town Park open from 10 AM to 6 PM for a drop in and sew workshop day. Come for the whole time, or just a few hours. We ask for a $10 donation to help cover the cost of the room, but assistance is free for anyone who has an EBOM from RQ to work on!
Please call to sign up if you know you are coming. While dropping in is welcome, if we have an approximate number it will help us to better plan.
