News to Use from RQ April 2nd
Posted by KJCB on April 02, 2020
Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Indiana, with a peak expected mid-April, we have made the difficult decision to stay closed until May 5. On that Tuesday we hope to open with our regular hours. If things change in any way, we will of course let you know. I want to take this time to reiterate how much we appreciate our loyal customers. You all are so important to us. We have people who don't even have a computer getting grandkids to place orders for them. We have people calling and asking for items they know we have but aren't online so they can still buy from us. Through these very difficult times you make us see again why we are in this business.
Orders - We continue to process all phone and online orders. We are offering free shipping on all orders over $50.00. We carry many items such as needles, stabilizers, batting, etc that are not on our website. Those are things you can email or call about to add to an order. Please - at this time we are NOT offering pick up on any orders.
Sewing Machine Repairs - If your machine needs its annual cleaning, please try to wait until we reopen. If your machine needs repair, call (leave a message) and we will set up a time for you to bring your machine and drop it off. We have our fabulous tech Duane available for those emergencies and he will take care of any brand or model of machine.
This week's TBT collection is Meadow Dance by Amanda Murphy for Contempo Fabrics. Bright flowers and butterflies for spring are a must this week! Follow this link to the "Throwback Thursday" Sale page on the RQ website for all the details! On to the news...
Fabric Face Masks Update
Last week we gave you a link for a face mask pattern and a contact person at one of our local hospitals. Many, many more have reached out now and asked for our sewing community's help in making these masks. If your area is in need, be sure you clear with them what type of specifics they may have for the masks you make. Remember your Police, Fire, EMT, and Ambulance personnel. Our local volunteer ambulance garage put out a call today for supplies and masks.
Elastic is in great demand. We have a shipment coming in the middle of April. It is not online. If you want some, please email your request and limit your purchase to 10 yards. Only ask for enough that you know you will use for making masks so others have access to it also. If we are not able to fill your order we will let you know. If you are not able to make masks, but would like to donate 1/8" or 1/4" elastic, please send it to PO Box 453, Rossville, IN 46065. We will see that it is donated to one of the groups sewing masks.
We will have our 108" Extra Wide 200 Count Muslin back in stock Friday and will be able to ship it out. (It is online here.) Please also limit your order to what you will use for helping your community in this pandemic. A yard of extra wide will make a LOT of face masks! We will continue shipping orders with one yard or more of the Extra Wide Muslin for FREE through April.

April Block of the Month
This Saturday, April 4th should be our next Block of the Month meeting. Alas it is not to be for the health of all (As noted above, we are also preemptively cancelling the May meeting). However, we still have Block of the Month packages ready for distribution! This month we are beginning the Aunt Grace Blue Ribbon BOM (featured above). Spaces are still available for this project that features a panel ripe for embellishment! Please read the following carefully:
*BOM by Mail Participants: Your blocks will be shipped as normal starting April 6th.
*In Store BOM Participants: Please contact us if you would like to have your BOMs shipped to you. As always, we will hold your BOMs until we reopen May 5th, if you prefer to pick them up. Shipping for one BOM is $4.25 and shipping for two or more BOMs is $6.75.
*ALL BOM Participants: We are offering FREE SHIPPING at $50! This includes your monthly BOM charge. Place an online order for items in the RQ Online Catalog and tell us in the Notes section to "SHIP WITH BOM." Please place orders by April 5th to make sure we can combine shipping.
We are going to try something new on Saturday, April 4th at 10:00 a.m. We are going to attempt a Facebook Live video to share information about our April BOM blocks and what's new in the store! All are welcome to attend our virtual BOM meeting by clicking on the link here. My understanding is that even if you don't have a Facebook account you can follow the link and see the video (sorry if that isn't true!). It will also be posted following the conclusion of the "live" portion. We hope to "see" you there!

BERNINA Spring Sale 2020
BERNINA is offering special pricing on all new BERNINA machines through April 14th with special financing for qualifying purchases. They are also allowing us to temporarily ship machines to customers due to current social distancing guidelines! While we can't currently offer test drives, you can shop virtually at bernina.com and then call or email us with questions!
All scheduled classes have been cancelled or postponed through April. We will contact students who have paid for upcoming classes once we are able to begin rescheduling. OESD School of Machine Embroidery and pre-paid Kimberbell Dealer Exclusive students will receive a separate email shortly. Thank you for your understanding!
Did You Know?
We have had a question surface many times recently about our ability to charge additional purchases to your credit card after placing an internet order. When you place an order through the RQ website, your credit card is authorized for the amount that you purchase. We do not have the ability to charge beyond that amount and do not have access to your credit card number. If you need to add an item that is not listed on the RQ website, such as batting, stabilizers, needles, etc. we will contact you for your credit card number or send a PayPal invoice for the difference. The only exception to this rule is if you are a current BOM member in which case your credit card number is stored securely and we can charge to the card we have on file.
