News to Use from RQ April 18th 2019
Posted by KJCB on April 18, 2019
This week has been fabric buying week as we've met with two representatives to order fabric that will arrive in the Fall 2019. These meetings were just the beginning of the spring fabric buying season as Spring Market is just around the corner in May! Marcia and I will be headed to Kansas City, MO for this year's Spring Market and are excited to bring back new and innovative ideas to share. You'll hear more about this as the date approaches! On to the news...
April RQ Bag Sale Announcement
Our next 10th Anniversary RQ Tote Bag Sale will be next week Tuesday, April 23rd - Saturday April 27th. This month's sale features fabric collections by manufacturers: Art Gallery and FreeSpirit (excludes Pinkerville). Yardage off the bolt will be $7.00/yd with your RQ Tote Bag (1/2 yard minimum cuts)! Remember you MUST have your RQ Tote Bag with you to receive the discount.
We've been informed by fabric manufacturer Benartex that our shipment of Jubilee Extra Wide Backing has been delayed (again) due to a problem at the mill. We know that several of you are waiting on preorders for this piece and we wanted to advise you that our current expected ship date is early June. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
BERNINA Play with Your Feet Mastery Class
New BERNINA machine owners: we've scheduled the second class in the mastery series! Play with Your Feet is a fun introduction to some of the things your machine can do beyond straight stitching. You'll try out specialty feet while making an embellished tote bag. The class is scheduled for Friday, April 26th at 12:30 p.m. Please sign-up now to reserve your seat!
What's New at RQ
We are frequently asked about carrying the popular blender "Stonehenge" by Northcott...so we jumped in with this new collection! Stonehenge Ombre by Linda Ludovico for Northcott features 15 of your favorite blenders in an ombre pattern. The print and colors shade across the width of the fabric to give you even more color options in just one piece. We have a few patterns available that use the Stonehenge Ombres to create stunning effects!
Another brand new blender at RQ is Terrain by Whistler Studio for Windham Fabrics. This coordinate features richly hued earth tones with a bit of texture in the print. There are only 20 skus in the collection so the fat quarter bundle is a great addition to your basics stash! We have three kit options available including two patterns that have been recolored to use the Terrain pieces.
Strawberry Jam by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics is now available at RQ. This collection is brimming with sweet prints for spring and summer projects. Strawberry florals, ditsy flowers, cherry toss, alphabet stripes, chain link bias stripes, and tiny pluses are all found in Strawberry Jam. Love the fabric, but don't know what to make? Corey has great patterns that use this collection! We have patterns and kits for four unique quilts including Plain & Fancy (my personal favorite, featured above). A few jelly rolls, layer cakes, and charm packs remain as well.
Newly arrived at RQ (and still in the boxes :)) is Rochester by Di Ford-Hall for Andover Fabrics. Jacobean themed peacocks are the main focus print to support the teal and rose colorways. Accordingly, the Rochester Quilt (featured above) is available in each colorway. Be sure to check out the supporting prints, especially the detail in the floral zigzag stripes!

Did You Know?
Most of the quilt kits that we offer in store and online are cut and packaged at RQ. We make every effort to kit using the fabrics called for by the pattern designer. If we are unable to use exact fabrics, we will list these changes in the kit description. Additionally, we will contact online orders if we have to make a change that was not listed on the product description. RQ kits always include the binding (unless otherwise stated); however, they rarely include the backing. Any questions about what's included in a kit, just ask!
