New Yazzii Organizers Now Available
We brought back a few new Yazzii Bag styles following our trip to Spring Market. One of the new bags is the Quilter's Project Bag CA880 (seen above) which can help organize your notions, threads, and fabrics for your current project. With 19 pockets and 4 sleeves, there is a spot for "everything." As an added bonus, the Quilter's Project Bag ships FREE from RQ! We also have Sewing Machine Mat Organizers CA575 and Mini Iron Storage Cases CA580 now in stock. RQ stocks a variety of organizers and colors; however, we can get any bag in any of the available colors if you are interested in something not listed on the RQ website.
What's New at RQ
It's hot outside, but we quilters need to be thinking about holiday and winter projects now. Winter Christmas by Timeless Treasures features this beautiful winter fireplace scene. The neutral colors will complement any deocrating scheme and there is a hint of gold metallic for a bit of shine. Coordinates include snowflakes, evergreen branches, and gold reindeer on a barn wood background.
If you prefer more traditional colors for your holiday decor then take a look at A Festive Season by Jackie Robinson for Benartex. Reds and greens with gold metallic highlights adorn the holiday ornaments that are the focus of this collection. The panel features large squares that could be incorporated as blocks into a quilt or maybe even pillows. If you're a fan of the border stripe table runners, this group has a beautiful border stripe.
For some novelty in your holiday projects, try North Pole After Dark by Dear Stella. Who doesn't need a fabric with Santa standing outside in his shorts and hat surveying the reindeer? Dachshunds in sweaters and hats would make cute stockings for your family's furry friend. Hanging ornaments among the mountains is one way to decorate for the season. Expand your imagination and create something fun with Dear Stella!
Did You Know?
National Sewing Machine Day was this week on June 13th. The day celebrates the invention of the sewing machine. According to the nationaldaycalendar.com, English inventor Thomas Saint had the first patent for a sewing machine design in 1790. However, he planned to use it to sew leather and canvas. There was no evidence that he actually built the machine found in his drawings. It wasn't until 1874 that William Newton Wilson found the drawings by Thomas Saint and built a working model of the sewing machine. Make sure to thank your sewing machine this week for all its hard work! :)
