News to Use from RQ August 17th
Posted by KJCB on August 17, 2017
We had a visit from the Illiana Quilt Guild yesterday and were happy to welcome some familiar faces and some new quilters/sewists to RQ! Thank you for your visit and we hope to see you all again soon! We packed a lot of new information into this week's newsletter so read on to see what's happening at RQ. On to the news...
OESD School of Embroidery Back in Session!
We are starting a brand new year of the popular OESD School of Embroidery in September 2017! This is a 12-month series of classes that teach a new technique each month helping you expand your machine embroidery knowledge and expertise. Commit to the "Graduate Program" and receive a discounted monthly price as well as a USB Stick, Binder, and monthly discount on class supplies OR "Pick and Choose" only the classes you are interested in. September's classes kickoff with the always popular FreeStanding Lace Technique when we make the picture frame seen above. Visit the RQ Calendar for all the details. Space is limited so be sure to reserve your seat by signing-up soon!
Featured Future BOM
We have our next Nancy Rink designed BOM now available for sign-up! Painter's Garden features Nancy's upcoming fabric collection "Twilight Tones" from Marcus Fabrics and will start in March 2018. The finished size is approximately 102" x 102". As usual, Nancy offers design options for those who like to applique. Choose the traditional pieced block centers (seen above) or add applique accents instead. Visit the RQ BOM Page to see a picture of the applique version, for more details, and to sign-up!
BERNINA 7 Series Koala Sewing Station
BERNINA 7 Series Owners have you seen the new Sewing Station by Koala Cabinets just for your machine?!?!? The Sewing Station utilizes the slide-on tray table to make your sewing/quilting space even larger. The lid of the Sewing Station opens wide for easy access to storage of all your sewing notions and/or threads. A shelf underneath and casters for easy movement make this a must for your sewing space. Stop into RQ to see our demo Sewing Station in person!
What's New at RQ
Now in stock at RQ by popular demand are the Aged Muslins by Marcus Fabrics. You may have used these beautiful fabrics if you participated in last year's A New Age BOM by Nancy Rink. The Aged Muslins are dyed with a special technique that allows them to appear to have a faded and distressed texture. There can be some color variation between bolts due to this process so plan accordingly when ordering. We have two kits available that use the Aged Muslin pieces: Linkety Split and Six Stack.
This collection was featured earlier this summer, but now that we're thinking holiday projects it deserves a second look...Do you have your "ugly" holiday sweaters out of storage yet? Sandy Gervais has "ugly" sweaters by the dozen in her new holiday collection: Eat, Drink, and Be Ugly for Moda Fabrics. In addition to the "ugly sweater" panel (featured above), coordinates include an all over sweater print, Santa faces, pine tree stripe, snowflakes, plaids, and more. We have yardage, fat quarters, jelly rolls, layer cakes, and charm packs available in these festive prints.
Just arrived at RQ is our last winter holiday collection for 2017! Snow Much Fun! by Dan DiPaolo for Clothworks features the always popular snowman on a variety of background colors. Throw in some winter sayings, barn siding, and snowflakes to round out this grouping. Snow Much Fun! also has a panel with 4 cheery snowman squares and 1 large snowflake to add into your upcoming winter projects.
BERNINA Back to School Sale August 17 - 21st
Did You Know?
If you're a fan of the online Quilt Alongs, head to the Moda BakeShop where they are preparing to start a new Quilt Along featuring a layer cake and coordinating yardage. Oda May has listed the supplies needed to start the project and patterns will be released beginning August 21st. I have trouble saying no to a Quilt Along and plan to jump in with a "Freedom" by Sweetwater Layer Cake that's been keeping my shelf warm. I may throw a couple blog posts about it your way just to keep myself on track :)
