News to Use from RQ April 12th
Posted by KJCB on April 12, 2018
Who has Spring Fever?!?! We finally warmed up enough today that we left RQ after work without coats. Hooray! Let's hope the warm weather sticks around this time, but if it doesn't spring is in the air at RQ and there are always flowers blooming somewhere in the store :) On to the news...
April Block of the Month Notes
Just a few notes in case you missed last Saturday's BOM meeting:
We did not receive the fabric for Pieceful Pines (featured above) in time to start at the April meeting. This program designed by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts should be able to start in May and there are still a few spaces remaining. Thank you for your patience!
Reminder to those participating in BOMs by mail that we always ship blocks out following the first Saturday of the month. Due to April's first Saturday not happening until the 7th, your blocks are being shipped this week and should arrive soon! :)
RQ Turns 10 Retreat @ Farmstead Inn Shipshewana
We are currently able to continue accepting reservations for our upcoming RQ Turns 10 Retreat at Farmstead Inn in Shipshewana during July! You can read more information about this exciting event on the RQ website. We now have registered participants from Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa and Missouri, as well as Indiana. How fun it's going to be to meet all these people!! We are sure looking forward to it. We stopped by at Farmstead Inn this week on our way back from a visit in Michigan. We saw the conference room we will have and toured some rooms. Don't forget your bathing suit to soak away any sore muscles in the indoor hot tub or swimming pool!
*If you have paid your $25.00 to RQ, but not yet made reservations with the Farmstead Inn, please do so! We have just added another 20 rooms to the RQ block for the retreat.
*The Farmstead Inn must know the names of all people in your room. People who are not registered with the Farmstead Inn will not receive breakfast or goody bags as that is what is used for the count. If you’ve added people, be sure to call and give the Farmstead Inn their names.
*If you have made room reservations at the Farmstead Inn but have not sent or called in your registration fee of $25.00 with RQ, you are NOT considered registered for the retreat! Please be sure you and ALL those in your room have registered. We are the cutoff point when the retreat is full, and if you don’t have your name in by then, you will be on a waiting list. We are currently half full.
*We have created a Facebook Group to share information with those who are registered to attend the retreat. If you don’t have Facebook, please see if someone in your room can keep you updated. (If that doesn’t work, just let us know and we will make sure you have all pertinent information.) We thought this would be a good place to look for ride or room sharing too if you are interested in that. Please click the following link and request to join the RQ Turns 10 Retreat at Farmstead Inn Group. Remember this group is for those who have registered!

Featured Future BOM
Mystery lovers: we are now taking sign-ups for the Border Creek Station Quilter's Friendships program that will start in October 2018. Due to the popularity of these mystery quilts, we will be offering TWO color options this year! Choose from Portsmouth by Minick and Simpson in blues and red OR La Vie en Rouge by French General in reds and creams. Both quilts will finish at approximately 70" x 98". The finished quilt picture is not revealed until the final month; however, you can see the fabric skus used in each program on the RQ website. Sign-up now to reserve your spot!
What's New at RQ
Beautiful new batiks from Timeless Treasures in bright and bold colors are now in stock at RQ. Unicorn Tonga features shades of the rainbow with a few multicolored pieces thrown in for fun! We have this whole collection available in yardage and fat quarters as well as Tonga Treat Strip Jrs. and Shortcakes. Have someone that loves unicorns? Checkout the Unicorn Scrappucino Kit that features foundation pieced unicorn faces!
One of a Kind by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics features four novelty skus that are digitally printed. The eagle aerie above is a one yard panel that would be a great central focus for a project or a stand alone wall hanging for the nature lover. Additional digital prints include packed horses, kittens, and puppies!
We've just completed the Favorite Things BOM that featured Rachel Remembered fabrics by Betsy Chutchian for Moda Fabrics. The remaining yardage is now available for all! Some skus have more remaining than others so don't delay if there is a particular piece that you need. Rachel Remembered has some wonderful cream prints that would make wonderful backgrounds for any project. The rich reds, blues, browns, and yellows would make a nice addition to any stash.
Did You Know?
Aurifil 50wt. cotton thread is thin while still surprisingly strong which creates accurate and flat seams in your quilt tops and leads to more accurate piecing. The strength of Aurifil allows this thread to be multi-purposed: piecing, quilting, and binding to name a few!
