2010 - 2011 Rossville Quilts Block of the Month (BOM) Programs
Welcome to our newest BOM programs! Patriots in Petticoats, Paris in the Fall, Holly Lane, and Embroidablock 2011. Keep watching here for possible new additions. See the list below with descriptions of our different BOM programs beginning this year and early 2011. Here are some general guidelines.
1. All participants in all programs must:
a. Pay in advance for the total program OR
b. Leave a credit card on file. This card will be charged the monthly fee each month, on or shortly after the first of the month. Please be sure the card you give us has an expiration date beyond the end of the program. Your information will be stored on our secure server.
2. When you sign up for any BOM program, the entire year’s worth of patterns, fabric and/or supply purchases by our shop is allocated to you. That means we have already incurred the expense. There are no cancellations! Your card on file will be charged each month. The last month, any unclaimed blocks will be mailed to you after 30 days, with the mailing charges placed on your credit card.
3. BOM by Mail – Members both within the US and international are more than welcome. Block packets may be mailed to you if you reside out of town any portion of the year, or if you simply can’t make it in and want your packet. An additional fee ranging from $2.00 minimum to $4.95 for a flat rate domestic envelope ($11.45 Canada/Mexico, $13.45 all other international) will be added to your monthly fee. Cost depends on distance and weight of items being mailed. International may be shipped less expensively if the fabric packets are smaller. We can fit 7 to 8 yards in a flat rate envelope. We would encourage you to participate with a friend, or even more fun… get a group together once a month after your packet arrives and pass out the blocks and sew together! We’re always happy to combine shipping to save you money. We’ll always give the option of adding from our online catalog to fill your packets. For any larger quantities of fabric that need to be mailed, the least expensive method of priority shipping will be used and that charge will be added to your monthly fee.
4. PIPBOM, PIFBOM, and ABOM will all meet on the same day. That will make it easier if you wish to do 2 or more programs. EBOM will have its own separate meeting time, as instruction is included.
5. You do not have to attend on the BOM pick up meeting. However, we will have door prizes, specials, and instruction on any unique features or additional notions that might come in handy for that month’s block on pick up day. NO PACKETS MAY BE PICKED UP BEFORE THE MONTHLY MEETING IS HELD!
6. Block Insurance will be offered for most BOM programs. Block Insurance is a bundle of fabrics used in your program(s). You can purchase Block Insurance to have on hand should you make an error in cutting so you can continue sewing without making another order or trip to the shop. If you don’t need your insurance, you can always do a throw pillow after your BOM is done! Extra fabric availability is likely, but not guaranteed!
7. All of our BOM classes feature quilt shop quality fabric from recognized fabric manufacturers such as Moda, Windham, Marcus, Maywood and more. We reserve the right to make substitutions of similar fabric where necessary.
BLOCK OF THE MONTH PROGRAMS 2010 - 2011
WHAT: Patriots in Petticoats Block of the Month (PIPBOM)
Windham Fabrics working with the Daughters of the American Revolution bring us this quilt using the fabric line “Hanna Wallis”. Hanna Wallis is ONLY available to shops doing this BOM program. Hanna’s quilt - created circa 1840 - was found tucked away in the DAR archives. Windham has beautifully reproduced her fabrics and we feel lucky to be doing this BOM. EXTRA: Each of the first 8 months along with your fabric and patterns you will receive biographies of two different women influential in the American Revolution. Cost is $19.95/month for 12 months to create this 98" X 98" quilt.
WHAT: Holly Lane Block of the Month (ABOM)
Holly Lane – This piecing and applique BOM uses the lovely Fancy Hill Farm fabric line from RJR and features a pattern designed by The Quilt Company. It requires no templates and uses fusible web for the appliqué. You will make a fantastic quilt top finishing at 73” X 63”. Cost will include all fabric for the top, piecing instructions, patterns, buttons, and accessory “goodies”. This 8 month program is $19.00 per month and will begin approximately October of 2010.
WHAT: Embroidery Block of the Month (EBOM)
Our third year of the Hoopsisters BOM program will begin in early 2011. This BOM is for any machine embroiderer, and is not specific to Bernina machines. Learn new texturing tips and tricks while machine embroidering your quilting in a hoop. Makes a unique wallhanging and can vary in look drastically depending upon your fabric and thread choices. Cost is $12.00/month for your CD and instruction. Save $2.00/month if you bring your completed embroidery from the previous month and attend meeting.
WHAT: Paris in the Fall Block of the Month (PIFBOM)
This BOM is using a line from one of my new favorite designers – Maison de Garance by French General for Moda. The pattern for Paris in the Fall was designed by Sherri Falls of This and That patterns. Many of you will be familiar with her “little” patterns! We will begin this program as soon as possible after fabric arrives in October 2010.
Cost is $19.00/month for this seven month program. Quilt is 66” X 86”.
